My Wiki edits

My Wiki edits

One of my first edits was giving a definition for digital writing. This is an important edit, because it lets the reader of the Wiki page know what digital writing is so they have context as they read more of the wiki. I also added in more information about personas, like why they are important and how they help influence and guide the design of a project. I added in a little bit of information about tone, how it sets the mood for the piece. In the section on scannability, I added in examples of how to improve a document's scannability. In the section on accesibility, I added in why accessibility is an important aspect of technical writing. I also added in examples of usability and how it can be applied. I also made some minor grammatical edits that did not change the meaning of anything that was written.

I think these changes are beneficial because they add a little bit more context to the information already given. I believe the examples I provided will help the reader of the LitWiki better understand the material and information. It will also help the reader have a firmer understanding of technical writing and the accessibility side of it.

I will admit, that I still feel a little shaky when it comes to editing Wiki articles. There is a lot of information to provide and I do not want to provide the wrong information to the reader. Wikis can be used to improve public understanding of the field and my topic by providing the reader with detailed information and examples. Wikis also link to other wikis to expand on the information that is given. This is important because having knowledge about my topic is important for me to be able to fully work with it and provide accurate information to the users of my site. It is important in terms of our field because it lets the readers know a little more behind-the-scenes knowledge of what technical writing is and how much work goes into making sure the site is accessible and easy to read for virtually everyone. Wikis are resourceful because they can be edited and added to by people in the field. Since it is hopefully someone knowledgeable on the subject adding to the Wiki, the reader can get accurate information. Since Wikis have the ability to be edited at anytime, the reader can also get up-to-date information on the subject.
